Saadia Khan

Saadia joined Bindmans as a trainee in the Human Rights and Public Law department in September 2006. She completed her training with the department and has recently qualified (September 2008).

As part of the team, Saadia has worked on high profile cases including the “Trusting the Pensions Promise” case (R (Bradley and others) v Secretary of State for Work and Pensions) and the case of Shambo the bullock (R (Swami Suryananda, v Welsh Ministers). She has also worked on an appeal against proscription of the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran under the Terrorism Act and the case of Guantanamo Bay detainee David Hicks.

Saadia is particularly interested in discrimination and human rights claims in the public law field. In addition she has gained broad experience in the regulatory field.

Before joining Bindmans, Saadia worked in Nottingham, at a firm specialising in immigration and human rights. She is involved in voluntary work, mainly with elderly and homeless people, and she has worked with young people as an Appropriate Adult.

Saadia is a member of Amnesty, the Human Rights Lawyers Association and Young Legal Aid Lawyers.

Saadia obtained First Class Honours in Economic and Social History at Liverpool University.
